cialis indiaWell, switching my baby girl over to formula has proved much more difficult than I thought. She simply will not take a bottle (or a sippy cup or anything for that matter). She drank from a bottle the first night of trying to switch her to formula, but she really hadn’t drank anything all day. But other than that night, she really hasn’t taken anything. After 2 extremely hard days and realizing she was determined to have mom, I went back to breastfeeding her, but she still isn’t getting enough to drink. So I’m trying to feed her and we’re trying to give her formula to supplement. Nothing is working yet. I’ve got just about every different kind of formula in my cupboard and 3 different kinds of nipples along with a sippy cup. We’re hoping one of the combinations will work, but right now I’m not feeling very hopeful. I do not know what to do.
It’s been very emotional for me. Not only did I NOT want to have to put her on formula, but now when for her own health it seems like the best thing to do, she won’t take it and still wants mom even though mom has very little breastmilk to feed her. It has been a rough week to say the least.

Jericho, my favorite TV show this past season, got the ax today. You can read about it here. The title of the article basically describes my thoughts right now: “The End of the World Cometh: ‘Jericho’ has been canned. CBS, you suck.”
I loved the storyline in ‘Jericho’. What would happen if several major cities in the U.S. were bombed with nukes simultaneously? How would that affect a small town in the middle of nowhere? I like the fact that it didn’t paint some sappy unrealistic picture where everyone would band together and everything would work out how its supposed to. No, it showed how humankind can turn on each other in the fight for existence, but it also showed the humanity of people in the midst of it. The plotline was good, the characters were great.
I’m still in a state of disbelief that its been cancelled. What a rip-off!

Today I had to come to terms with the fact that I have to put my baby girl on formula. My milk supply has been diminishing for a couple of months now. First Lynae would feed for 20 minutes each time, then it was down to 15 and then 10, and then less than 10. She would be fussy once she finished eating so I knew she wasn’t getting full. I’ve tried herbal remedies, researching the issue, talking to my doctor, but in the end nothing has been able to stop the inevitable.
This has been really really hard for me to take. There is something inside of me saying I should be able to breastfeed for as long as I want - that’s the way God created it. So why can’t I do it? I’m looking at the situation as a win or lose scenario and I hate to lose. I’m stubborn and I hate to give up. Right now I am a little girl stamping my feet and yelling, “I want it my way!!!” This has been hard because I’ve always wanted to be able to feed my babies up to a year and I’ve always had troubles with my milk supply. I thought this time I would be able to ‘beat it’. With my oldest I had to quit at 5 months - I blamed that on the fact that he was given a bottle very early on so I assumed he got to liking the bottle more than me. With my youngest son I had to quit at 7 months after I went back to work - with not being able to feed him during the day even with pumping at work, my milk supply simply could not keep up. But with this baby - she won’t even really take a bottle, I’m not at work - and I’m still drying up. My husband says I should take this as an encouragement. It means that this is the way my body is and no matter what I would have done with my first two boys the results would have been the same.
But it doesn’t make it any easier. Even though I look with a degree of disdain at the ‘nipple nazis’ (breastfeeding consultants), what they say still has made its way into my heart. I feel like less of a mother because I can’t continue breastfeeding. I’m envious of other mothers who have an ample milk supply and have the freedom to choose how long they will nurse. I want that same freedom to choose. It isn’t fair!

I saw the trailer for “Away from Her” when my husband and I went to see “Reign Over Me”. I was intrigued by the trailer. Now its out in theaters and it has a rating of 93% with ‘rotten tomatoes‘. (if you’ve never heard of Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a website that rates movies based on reviews from official critics and anyone adding their own reviews or ratings - its great! I find it much more accurate than just going by ‘official’ reviews).
The only thing is that “Away from Her” is not currently playing in Saskatoon. What’s with that?!

My husband has threatened to de-link me if I don’t post something so I’d better get crackin’. It seems like I have disappeared from blogdom. What have I been doing?
- selling Partylite - I decided to enter the direct selling market in March. I’ve been doing it for about a month now and am enjoying it so far. I thought I’d start now while I still have 1/2 a year of maternity leave to see if this business is going to work for me. (my husband calls it “candle amway” but he’s been very supportive)
- watching Jericho - I am hooked! The show is getting really intense. I’m guessing they’ll leave us with a cliff-hanger season finale so we’ll all have to wait to next season to see what happens.
- reading books - I just finished reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers for the book club I’m in and really enjoyed it. The book is a retelling of the book of Hosea set in the 1850’s goldrush in California. I’ve never read any of Francine Rivers books before; I enjoyed her writing and will probably read more of her books.
- going for walks - now that spring has finally come, I’m trying to go out for a walk every weekday morning once the kids leave for school
- and hanging out with friends (Livin Forgiven and CWG’s wife) while walking
- trying to find balance in my life - God, managing the household, children, my business, etc.
There’s a little tidbit for now. Gotta go (I have a baby drooling on my arm)
