I’m not an ‘arts & crafts’ kind of person and I’ll admit I don’t do a lot of playing with my boys with their toys.\u00c2\u00a0 But one thing that has always been important to me is reading.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve always read to the boys.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s been part of our bedtime routine (this has been somewhat derailed with moving, having a baby, and Christmas, but we’re getting back into it now).<\/p>\n
I absolutely LOVE reading to my boys.\u00c2\u00a0 Since when my oldest was born, I was anticipating a time when I could read my favourite book to him, The Lord of the Rings<\/strong><\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 We finished that book a couple of months ago.\u00c2\u00a0 Now I’m looking forward to reading it to my younger boy.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0We’re continuing with other books, only now my oldest and I can share the reading – he reads a chapter to me, I read a chapter to him.\u00c2\u00a0 We both love fantasy so now we’re reading through Eragon <\/em><\/strong>and we’re both enjoying it.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0We\u00c2\u00a0watched the movie “The Secret of Nimh<\/em>” a couple of weeks ago and my younger boy\u00c2\u00a0really liked the movie, so\u00c2\u00a0I’m reading the the book to him.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s so much fun.\u00c2\u00a0 I love seeing them getting into the story and watching the anticipation in their faces as\u00c2\u00a0I read to them.\u00c2\u00a0 I love drama and so try to bring the characters to life using different voices.<\/p>\n Our whole family\u00c2\u00a0reads.\u00c2\u00a0 I am thoroughly enjoying the extra time to read now that I’m on maternity leave.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve even joined a book club through my church.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0My husband\u00c2\u00a0reads mostly non-fiction, but he’s always reading something.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s awesome to see\u00c2\u00a0a passion for reading in my oldest son.\u00c2\u00a0 He goes to the library and brings back tons of books.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00c2\u00a0 helps\u00c2\u00a0 him relax and gives him\u00c2\u00a0alone time to himself.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0think my younger boy will gain that same passion.\u00c2\u00a0 He watches his older brother reading and says he can’t wait until he can read like his brother.\u00c2\u00a0 And now I have a baby girl.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ll be able to read some of my other favorite books that the boys won’t like, like Anne of Green Gables<\/em><\/strong> and The Blue Castle<\/em><\/strong> (both by L.M. Montgomery).\u00c2\u00a0 I’m so looking forward to it.<\/p>\n I just love reading!\u00c2\u00a0 I’m so glad my family loves it, too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
