{"id":249,"date":"2008-07-21T21:44:39","date_gmt":"2008-07-22T03:44:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=317"},"modified":"2008-07-21T21:44:39","modified_gmt":"2008-07-22T03:44:39","slug":"updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=249","title":{"rendered":"Updates&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It feels like I shouldn&#8217;t even consider myself a &#8216;blogger&#8217; since I&#8217;ve been posting so sporadically.\u00a0 I really haven&#8217;t felt like posting anything lately.\u00a0 But here&#8217;s an update:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>our family road trip was not all I had expected it to be &#8211; more stress than fun (although there was some of that), plus our videocamera\/camera was stolen.\u00a0 Poopie!!!<\/li>\n<li>I was watching our 20 month old daughter a few days ago &#8211; she was trying to do &#8216;rock-paper-scissors&#8217; because as I&#8217;ve posted recently, this is our ultimate decision-making tool.\u00a0 She was so excited to try to do it &#8211; her little hand was balled up into a fist and she was shaking it up and down.\u00a0 She couldn&#8217;t figure out how to change it to scissors or paper, but she&#8217;d giggle each time we did it.\u00a0 The thought came to me: &#8220;why can&#8217;t I be like her? &#8211; she takes delight in simply <strong>trying<\/strong> and doesn&#8217;t get upset if she doesn&#8217;t get it right the first time.&#8221;\u00a0 I, on the other hand, expect to get everything right the first time and I get upset and think its the end of the world when I don&#8217;t.\u00a0 Why am I like that?\u00a0 I want to be like my daughter.<\/li>\n<li>Recently I saw what decades of insecurity can do to a person.\u00a0 I realized our insecurities are very damaging, not only to ourselves, but to others.\u00a0 Our insecurities take the focus off of what it should be and onto our insecure selves.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because our self-worth is at stake and we desperately try to maintain that level of self-worth.\u00a0 In this state, we are unable to focus on others or show them care, concern, love.\u00a0 I admitted to myself that although I can identify areas of insecurity within myself, I&#8217;ve largely come to accept them &#8211; not that I don&#8217;t want God to work on them, but I didn&#8217;t feel any sense of urgency to have them dealt with.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think they were as big of deal as I&#8217;m coming to realize they are.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to go through life hanging onto my insecurities.\u00a0 I want my worth to be found in God and nothing else.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m putting together a Partylite order (cause I want free stuff) so if anyone wants some candles, let me know (plus reed diffusers are on for $25 for the month of July &#8211; that&#8217;s 1\/2 off) &#8211; Ok, there&#8217;s my shameful sales pitch.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll move on&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m reading &#8220;Flight of the Dragonfly&#8221; &#8211; its a true story of 2 girls that were kidnapped by their father and their mother&#8217;s journey to find them and bring them home &#8211; its really good so far<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It feels like I shouldn&#8217;t even consider myself a &#8216;blogger&#8217; since I&#8217;ve been posting so sporadically.\u00a0 I really haven&#8217;t felt like posting anything lately.\u00a0 But [&hellip;] <span class=\"read-more-link\"><a class=\"read-more\" href=\"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=249\">Read More<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,6,9],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/249"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=249"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/249\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=249"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=249"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=249"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
