{"id":364,"date":"2010-05-03T04:10:19","date_gmt":"2010-05-03T04:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=364"},"modified":"2010-05-03T04:10:19","modified_gmt":"2010-05-03T04:10:19","slug":"life-without-internet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=364","title":{"rendered":"Life without Internet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Through a series of unfortunate events, I find myself without access to the internet for the weekend (of course this won\u2019t be posted until I have the internet back, but \u2018oh well\u2019).<span> <\/span>It feels so strange.<span> <\/span>I feel somewhat lost.<span> <\/span>I can\u2019t check my emails, surf Facebook, check the weather, read my RSS feeds.<span> <\/span>I was watching a cartoon movie with the kids and one of the character\u2019s voices sounded familiar.<span> <\/span>I thought to myself, \u201cI\u2019ll go look up the actor on IMDB\u201d but then I remembered I couldn\u2019t.<span> <\/span>I feel so totally disconnected from the outside world.<span> <\/span>What\u2019s going on out there?!<span> <\/span>(incidentally, we don\u2019t have cable or satellite, we don\u2019t even have \u2018peasant vision\u2019, so the internet is our main source of information)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s disconcerting to realize my dependency on \u201cthe net\u201d.<span> <\/span>What on earth did we do before this existed?<span> <\/span>And how do people function who don\u2019t have access to this wonderful invention.<span> <\/span>The entire world of information is at my fingertips, at any moment of the day.<span> <\/span>I feel like I\u2019m on a fast (and I have hunger pangs).<span> <\/span>It\u2019s ok for this weekend but I know I would not be able to handle an extended period of time without my internet access.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Even though I don\u2019t have the internet for the weekend, it\u2019s not completely a bad thing.<span> <\/span>I\u2019ve done other things, like read a book that I had started a while ago, and spent more time with my kids.<span> <\/span>It\u2019s been a good reminder of how much time I spend on the net.<span> <\/span>It wouldn\u2019t hurt me to cut it down a little, or at least just spend time surfing once or twice a day instead of whenever I have a spare moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Through a series of unfortunate events, I find myself without access to the internet for the weekend (of course this won\u2019t be posted until I [&hellip;] <span class=\"read-more-link\"><a class=\"read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/?p=364\">Read More<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/364"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=364"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/364\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":365,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/364\/revisions\/365"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=364"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=364"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/songofjoy.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=364"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
