Nick-names

It’s interesting how babies tend to bring forth a whole myriad of nick-names.  Here’s what we’ve got in our family for Lynae (everyone’s come up with something different):

Matthew> cutie-wutie

David> nae-nae (pronounced NAY-NAY)

Dad> little sweetie

Mom> little miss poopy pants

There are others> fussy-fuss, grumpy girl, pretty girl

I was wondering why we come up with so many nick-names for our babies.  As if it’s not enough to call them by the name we have given them on their birth certificate.  Is it because they’re just so cute?  Is it because their personalities haven’t fully come out yet, so we project more onto them?

What nick-names did you have for your babies?

  1. For Erika: sweetpea, adorable angel, cutie pie, sweetie, princess
For Karah: snowpea, munchkin, cutie pie, little cutie, angel

  2. I call my son “lovey man”, only because he’s still too small to object. LOL!

I call my daughter either sweetie or toots.

I think sweet nicknames are just another way to show our love.

  3. For Mitchell: Angel Boy; Scotty; Bentin; (Scott and Bentin are his two “middle names”; Mitchum; Cutie pie.
For Tyrone: Ty-Ty; Roney; Rone; Ty-Michael; (Michael is one of his “middle names”; Tyrone-a-saurus; Blondie
I’m not sure why all the nick names. Of course, as my boys are getting older, their “regular” name is used more often than not. But any of the above names they will respond to if I, their mother, calls them by that.

  4. For Ben: Bentron, Smeagol, Serious George, Darfagator
For Sam: Sambot, Stinky McFartsalot, Budder, Sammy Bammy

And for both of them: Buddy, Goober, Peanut, Little Man, and Mommy’s Good Sweet Boy. (That’s a long one, and it’s not always true, but I say it a lot so it counts.)

  5. Yeah, it is funny how we have to give our kids nicknames. We’re not too creative over here….
Jonah is Jonah Ponah, and Daniel is Daniel Paniel.
    LOL!
And just to stress how uncreative we are, I’ll add that we used to have a kitty, named, “kitty”.
