It is a time of new beginnings for me. My husband and I are entering into a new ministry opportunity and I will be starting work as a catering manager next week. I’ve been spending some time with God and this is what He’s been saying to me:
“‘What does God want us to do?’ Jesus told them, ‘This is what God wants you to do: Believe (emphasis mine) in the one He has sent.'” John 6:28-29. I’m sure if I really really believed Jesus is who He said He is, I wouldn’t be afraid to step out of my comfort zone to follow Him.
“So now I am giving you a new comandement: Love each other (emphasis mine). Just as have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35. Love is the key. So many times when there’s been tension in my relationships and I’ve asked what I should do, God has said over and over to just love the other person; and that’s always been the right thing to do.
“Through each (emphasis mine) day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,…” Psalm 42:8. And upon my children and upon my husband and upon my friends. Know that you are loved!
I was listening to a song this morning: “You Shine” by Brian Doerksen
When You made the heavens?
Why should I be afraid,
When You put the stars in place?
Why should I lose heart,
When I know how great you are?
Why should I give up,
When Your plans are full of love?
But You have overcome the world!
You Shine,
Brighter than the brightest star!
Your Love,
Purer than the purest heart!
You Shine,
Filling us with courage and strength
To follow You!
give us courage and strength, to follow you!)
You—- Shine—-! (to the ends of the earth! oh Lord! oh Lord!
We’re gonna follow, we’re gonna follow You!)
Carol, thanks for this encouragement! I needed to hear this. I’m entering the work world once again today, and right now I’m feeling nervous, scared, anxious and a little bit excited. Sorry I missed your call yesterday . . . I was at school bringing Mitchell his show and tell (one of our cats) and then I was off to my interview. I’m so blessed with this job. Check my blog for details about it. I’m going to try to post this weekend.
In any case, I wish you a wonderful weekend with your family as you prepare for the next phase in life.
As for the candle party . . . yes, it’s coming along.
