I love to play piano. When I was in high school and college I would play the piano almost every day. It was like therapy for me, a stress release. I could let the music & my emotions intertwine as my hands danced across the keys and I poured myself into the playing. It was so good.
I still play piano but it comes in spurts and I’ll usually only play for half an hour. Sometimes I’ll play a couple of times in a week, sometimes I’ll go weeks before I play anything. It’s getting better though – I’m playing more now that I used to. Part of the problem in the past was as soon as I sat down to play at the piano one of my children would come up and start playing with me, which meant I didn’t really end up getting to play – my kids just took over. My older boys don’t bother me anymore and my daughter likes to dance while I’m playing so its better now.
Today I sat down at the piano and played for a couple of hours, just for the fun of it. I played songs I hadn’t played in years, including playing through all the songs of the “Les Miserables” songbook. It was so much fun!
