#11: Avatar – The Last Airbender

I loved this show when we first discovered it a couple of years ago. The whole series is currently on Netflix and I’ve started watching through the series again with my daughter the last few days. I’m enjoying it as much as I did when I first watched the series. It’s a great story with great characters. For a children’s TV series it has a lot more depth than any other children’s cartoon I’ve seen. Many of the characters have their own internal struggles throughout the series and you see the characters grow and change as the story moves along. The show has action but in a twist (which seems counter to most media) the main character whose mission is to stop a war refuses to willingly hurt and in particular, kill, anyone in order to accomplish his goal. There are great messages about friendships and loyalty and resolving conflict. I’m absolutely loving this show…all over again.
