Packing day

Today was spent packing up more stuff for our big move.  We’ve got the majority of it packed now; mostly odds & ends from this point on.  Possession date is this coming Wednesday and moving day is next Saturday, October 21.  It’s exciting to think we’ll actually be owning our own home in less than a week’s time.  I was able to do a lot today, but now I am […] Read More

I’m going to fire my family doctor

Yesterday I went to see the doctor who is actually going to deliver my baby.  She was reviewing the file sent over from my family doctor.  She says to me, “I see your second glucose test came back as normal.”  What????  (the glucose test determines if I’m gestational diabetic).  I had her explain the results to me (which she explained much better than my family doctor), and yes, my results […] Read More

Not so black and white

I see the world as ‘black or white’, ‘right or wrong’.  When faced with making a decision, I tend to view it as an opportunity to make a mistake, to make a ‘wrong’ decision.  I’m constantly asking, ‘What am I supposed to do?’ I’m so busy trying to figure out what others (including God) would want me to do that I never really ask myself what I would want to do. This past […] Read More

Gestational diabetes

Gestational diabetes: “is a condition characterized by elevated blood sugar brought on by pregnancy… The condition affects the mother in late pregnancy – usually beginning sometime around weeks 20 through 24 – after the baby is formed… Gestational diabetes ends once the pregnancy has ended, but it increases the risk of the mother developing type 2 diabetes later in life.” I am 0.1 away from being officially diagnosed with gestational […] Read More

Our 1st House

We have bought a house!  We signed the papers on Monday to make it official.  Possession date is October 18; moving day is Saturday, October 21 (3 weeks before my due date).   Neat things about our house:  It’s got lots of space.  Almost 2200 square feet over 2 floors (main floor and basement).  The basement is full height (so my husband doesn’t have to duck his head – he’s 6ft 6inches […] Read More

Might be buying a house…again

The house shopping saga continues.  Last time I posted, I said we were one step closer to buying a house.  That house deal fell through because our home inspection showed some possible issues with the foundation of the house.  We didn’t want to risk that, so we backed out of the deal.  Today we put in an offer for a different house and it was accepted.  So if all conditions are […] Read More

Living Dangerously

I was listening to a song today that used to be my favorite way back in high school.  It expressed a burning desire in my heart to follow the Lord. Living Dangerously In The Hands Of God Steve Camp How easily Jesus is forgotten amid the comfort of my life How the flames become a flicker, and faith a brilliant disguise Our Sundays become a holiday, they’re an empty exercise And the […] Read More

The thing I like least about being pregnant

“The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows your digestive process, which can cause GAS, especially after a big meal.”   My family (all being boys) seems to think this quite hilarious.  I find it quite annoying.

Transition time

As I mentioned in my previous post, we are looking to buy a house.  We came one step closer today to owning our own home.  Exciting!  God reminded me of a song this morning that describes where I’m at:  Lead Us Lord (Dream Again)  Written by Brian Doerksen  Here we stand At a crossroads again Like you said In time the seasons change Looking back We recall the blessing and […] Read More

House shopping??

What is with the buying homes ‘bug’?  Nin and Sarah and their families are buying homes.  And now it seems that my family might be in the near future as well.  No, our choice to move is not from some sort of peer pressure because everyone’s doing it.  I would like to blame this one on God and Darcy.  When we first got married, my husband felt that for the first year, everything […] Read More
