‘Erratic’ – that’s my word for today.
I am having contractions (they started yesterday afternoon), but they’ve been quite erratic. Although they are doing something.  I saw my doctor this morning and I am 3 cm dilated, so there’s hope that maybe we will have a newborn by the end of today.
It’s been a bit frustrating. Seeing as this is the first time I’ve gone into labour ‘naturally’, I’m finding this process to be taking longer than I thought it would. With my other two, I was induced and for the most part things just progressed at a fairly steady pace.
Last night everyone was ready for us to head to the hospital. The kids’ bags were packed and ready to head to the babysitter. My husband was all ready to get us out the door. The kids were super-excited. And then nothing happened. My contractions stayed at 10 minutes apart and when I lay down, they basically stopped.  So when I told my 6 year old this morning that there was no baby yet, his reaction was ‘psssfffttt!’
As soon as I got up and moving this morning, the contractions came back. So, ‘erratic’ is my word for today. Hopefully things are going to start to progress soon. Everyone is anxious to see this baby and getting impatient with the whole thing.
