There were two very fun things today.
1. Breakfast with Lila: Lila is part of our house church family and every week we go out for breakfast together and enjoy each other’s company. We started this summer and I have enjoyed every bit of it. I always look forward to our visits. Today we had breakfast at the Park Cafe.
2. Date Night with Hubby: normally my husband and I will go out on a date a couple of times a month but this was the first time we’d gone out in the evening for over a month. I always love going on dates with my husband (it helps a lot that our children are old enough to be built-in babysitters). We enjoy having supper together and seeing movies. Tonight we had supper at the 2nd Ave Grill (one of our favorite restaurants) and saw the movie “Silver Linings Playbook“. I’m not normally a big fan of ‘chick flicks’ but this was rated 90% on Rotten Tomatoes (a resource that usually does not let me down). It was a great movie, with happy ending and all – although there were moments where I thought I was watching my oldest son 15 years from now (the main character has some mental health challenges).
It all sounds so lovely! Ah… Date Nights… our dates nights are in our own home, at this point in the game, but still enjoyable.
Date nights are always a good thing whether you go out or stay at home. I remember when the kids were finally old enough to babysit – it was so awesome to be able to go out without planning ahead and trying to hunt down a babysitter. It was such a novelty.
By the way, do your parents ever watch your children so you can go out on a date when you come to Saskatoon? That’s something my mother-in-law always offered to do when we went to Edmonton and I always appreciated that gesture.
