I love volleyball. I used to play volleyball in high school and college. Even though I was a “bench warmer” for most of high school (I really didn’t start playing a lot until Grade 11/12) I always enjoyed it. Volleyball was the only sport I was even remotely good at and I’d like to think that I got to be a fairly decent player particularly when I was in college. […] Read More
I took a walk along the riverbank downtown this morning and took pictures…just for the fun of it. I love to take pictures and maybe once a year I’ll take a day where I spend a few hours walking around and taking pictures. I wonder why I don’t do it more often because I enjoy it so much. Here are some of my favourite shots from today:
I had lunch with an old classmate today. I haven’t connected with her for a number of years and it was really good to see her and “catch up” on things with her as well as some of our other classmates. I had a lot of fun and look forward to getting together with her again on a more regular basis than every couple of years.
I love to play piano. When I was in high school and college I would play the piano almost every day. It was like therapy for me, a stress release. I could let the music & my emotions intertwine as my hands danced across the keys and I poured myself into the playing. It was so good. I still play piano but it comes in spurts and I’ll usually only […] Read More
So…at house church this evening a friend was mentioning someone she knows who is celebrating “50 days of fun” leading up to her 50th birthday. And I realized that today is 40 days until my 40th birthday. So I’m going to try my own “40 Days of Fun”, which will be a stretch for me because I’m don’t automatically think of all the “fun” things I can do – I’m […] Read More
Today is November 11, Remembrance Day. As I pause and reflect on this day these are the thoughts that come to mind: Remember… Remember not the destruction and hatred. Remember instead the moments of humanity shining like beacons of connection from every corner of the chaos. We are all human. We all have the capacity for compassion and empathy, wherever we are, in whatever circumstance. I think of stories from […] Read More
I’ve been thinking about “the journey” lately. Back in the day when I was fresh out of high school and being introduced to different aspects of Christianity, people would talk about “the journey” – that the way God worked within us was much like a journey. I hated to hear that. I just wanted to get to the end…now! I wanted to be ‘fixed’, forget about this ‘journey’, this ‘process’ […] Read More
Last week was the week of no responsibilities for me. Meaning there were no children around. They spent the week at Grandma’s in another province. I really enjoy these times. I can do what I want to do, when I want to do it, without feeling obligated to anyone – not even my husband. I think everyone should experience this at least once a year, even if it is only […] Read More
As I’ve been reading various blog posts over the past few months, I’ve been running into something that makes me feel sad. It’s hard to pinpoint or nail down. I recognize that a few years ago I wouldn’t have been bothered by what I read at all. I would relate, I would empathize, I would say “I know how you feel.” What am I reading? Agony over decisions made, fear […] Read More
I’ve heard this song a couple of times in the last week but today it really struck me. I’ve linked to the video and listed the lyrics below: “Remind Me Who I Am” by Jason Gray When I lose my way, And I forget my name, Remind me who I am. In the mirror all I see, Is who I don’t wanna be, Remind me who I am. In the […] Read More
