I was going to list “Going to the Observatory” as my ‘fun’ thing for today, but it was a big disappointment. I’d never been to the Observatory before and I’ve always wanted to go so I thought this would be a good opportunity for a fun thing to do. The telescope they have is from the 1920’s and not nearly as powerful as I thought it would be. We looked […] Read More
I spent some time at the Mendel Art Gallery today. I sat in the Conservatory which is always nice. Everything is green, it’s humid, and the gentle sound of the waterfall wafts through the place. Today warm sunshine was streaming in through the windows…it’s a very relaxing place. I also walked through the art exhibits and had some lunch and a mocha at Museo. Fun, fun!
We held a party at our house this evening. And it was a lot of fun. There is a group of us that try to get together once a year. It used to be held on New Year’s Eve but the person who hosted it now lives in another city. So last year we all got together after Christmas at our place while everyone was still in town. This year […] Read More
I wanted to make sure Calvin & Hobbes made it onto my ‘fun’ things list. We own the entire collection and I love Calvin & Hobbes. It always makes my day a little bit better. So I read some Calvin & Hobbes today. And…I played video games with my daughter this morning and had a games night with my husband and middle son this evening (we played Dominion, which Leighton […] Read More
Opening presents is fun! And watching other people opening their presents is fun, too!
I loved this show when we first discovered it a couple of years ago. The whole series is currently on Netflix and I’ve started watching through the series again with my daughter the last few days. I’m enjoying it as much as I did when I first watched the series. It’s a great story with great characters. For a children’s TV series it has a lot more depth than any […] Read More
I have a room in our basement which I have named my ‘prayer room’. It’s a small room and has candles everywhere – hanging down one wall, hanging from the ceiling, various candles on stands in 3 corners of the room. I use this room to meditate, listen to relaxing music, collect my thoughts, journal, and talk with God. I really enjoy being in this room. It is a quiet, […] Read More
Let me start off by saying that Baking is generally not ‘fun’ for me – it’s time consuming and it makes a big mess which I have to clean up afterwards. It’s much simpler to let Costco be my bakery. But…today I made butter tarts and it was kind of fun. For one thing I didn’t have to mess around with the pastry (thank you, Costco, for frozen tart shells!). […] Read More
I love to go for walks. I find them refreshing and relaxing (plus, it burns calories – bonus!). Today I was itching to get out of the house for a walk. Although it was sitting around -25 degrees C with the windchill I bundled myself up and headed out. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day (despite the cold). Winter definitely possesses a special kind of beauty. […] Read More
As I’ve mentioned before I like to take pictures. Other than a half day class for beginners I haven’t taken any formal training. But I’d like to learn more. A little over a year ago I bought myself a dSLR camera and I’ve enjoyed using it but I know there’s so much more I don’t know that if I did I could have even more fun with my camera. Last […] Read More
